Welas Oy Ltd Improves Efficiency with JAKA COBOT from Brew Control
Welas Oy Ltd has enhanced its manufacturing process by integrating the JAKA COBOT robot from Brew Control. This collaboration marks a significant step forward for Welas, bringing new levels of automation and productivity.
The collaboration between Welas Oy Ltd and Brew Control began in an unexpected manner. Livio De Cet, CEO of Welas, met Bartlomiej (Bart) Madej, founder of Brew Control, during a tennis match in Vaasa. Bart, who was working in automation and had a genuine interest in improving manufacturing efficiencies, soon began a working relationship with Welas that spanned four months. This period laid the foundation for their current collaboration.
Addressing Manufacturing Challenges
Welas needed to solve specific problems in their manufacturing process, particularly with deburring small parts like tubes. The main challenge was ensuring a reliable way for deburring tubing after laser drilling processes. Traditional methods were slow, sometimes inconsistent, and not ergonomical necessitating the move to automation. Since installing the JAKA COBOT, Welas has seen numerous benefits. The process is now safer and more effective, leading to a quick return on investment. The robot’s precision ensures that parts are consistently made to a high standard, helping Welas maintain its reputation for high quality, high precision laser machined parts.
Brew Control’s Expertise
Bart Madej, with his strong background in automation, aims to help customers achieve the best efficiency. He met the JAKA team in Chicago and was impressed by their professional approach and the COBOT’s price-to-quality ratio. Positive feedback from other users also influenced his decision. Once the right model was decided, integrating the JAKA COBOT was straightforward. Brew Control handled the planning, programming, and testing in Poland before final implementation and training in Vaasa. Welas’s team, especially Tero Uitto was inspired by the solutions impact and trained to operate and integration of the new processes. Bart highlights several benefits of using automation like the JAKA COBOT. These include saving time, ensuring consistent quality, reducing human errors, and improving safety. ”Machines are more reliable and don’t get tired,” he notes.
Brew Control ensures that the JAKA COBOT works well with existing systems and is ready for IoT solutions. Remote control and data collection help users optimize their processes. The COBOT receives regular inspections, usually once a year, to keep it in good working condition. Welas currently has no immediate plans to expand their use of automation, but is very open to future applications. Livio De Cet believes that solutions combining automation and AI will be a big part of our future investments.
The great collaboration between Welas Oy Ltd and Brew Control showcases how automation can transform manufacturing processes, leading to increased efficiency and quality.
